Hi eKa Circle,
Anyone else longing for sunshine?
Do you recall drying sheets in the sun? Opening the windows to let some fresh air in? I have had more than one chat this last week with those living in Sydney all saying mould and mildew is becoming a huge issue with all of this rain. Persistent mildew being a symbol of an ancient curse (see deut 28, 1 kings 8, amos 4, haggai 2) hand in hand with famine and pestilence, locusts and the worm. Mildew and mould can lead to many health issues particularly respiratory. The spores are carried in the air and may cause some cold symptoms, asthma and allergies.
Did you know clove oil kills mildew, mould and the spores? Clove is a much better choice than using a bleach. Don’t forget to get to the problem of why the mould is there in the first place. Fix any leaks, open windows to prevent condensation building. Don’t store anything if it is damp. If you only bleach the mould, (besides not being so eco-friendly) all the health risks including allergies and asthma problems will still be there whether you can see the mould or not. It is also then likely to grow back within a few days. I have just washed the inside of my windows using a mix of white cleaning vinegar, warm water and a few drops of clove oil. Tea tree oil is also said to be quite effective. Avoid touching mould, try to use gloves whenever possible.
If you have any excess moisture issues in your wardrobe etc try a few drops of clove oil on some blackboard chalk. You could also a try a humidifier to help the situation. Fling the doors and windows open at the first ray of sunlight possible. The ultraviolet light from sunlight kills mould and spores.
A bucket of rock salt (pierce some holes in the lid) sprinkle with some clove oil is also a great thing to place in a room that needs to be dehumidified. The salt will absorb excess moisture. As the salt draws discard the liquid and top up the salt.
If you would like to purchase some clove oil from eKa Circle please reach out.
What are your tips for damp issues?
love & light
