Afternoon eKa Circle,
I am passionate about helping you become conscious of what you are buying. What you use on your body daily and in your home really makes an impact. Do you know what ingredients are in the products that you purchase? Even if you try there is a thing called “greenwashing” which consists of putting forward ecological arguments in order to forge an ecologically responsible image among the public. Most often using pictures and labels that give the impression that you are buying green when it actually isn’t anywhere near that. There are some very big players that have been called out for this, a quick search and you will see who I mean! Yep money talks. Taking things back to natural is not only better for you and the environment, it is affordable and you will need so few less products. The farm shouldn’t harm. Natural plant extracts are a gift!
Here are a few new oils and extractions eKa has on offer. To extract a plant essence it is usually done either with an oil or an alcohol base. For the rose water it is done using a steam distillation. I like to see it as extracting that plants “essence or spirit.” You can see how the words carry through in pure alcohols being called “spirits.” The debate over the arabic word al-kuhul or kohl (black eyeliner used around the eyes the windows to the soul) is often linked to the word al-ghawl defined as demon, ghost or spirit, and of course our word for “spirits” alcohol. A compelling theory is mentioned in the koran in reference to too much wine. That is where the english word ghoul comes from. We can see the effects on one when one drinks too much extracting most sensibilities; yet as far as plants go we want to extract all of the goodness! The components that add to our health and wellbeing pack a punch when extracted. If you have time to grow, forage, pick and extract yourself that’s great! Please read more here on how to make your own herbal infusions.
There is more to explore on this topic on ekacircle app in the free ebook called conscious plants
