Evening eKa CIRCLE
I may have found your next evening in “date night” activity haha. I came trundling home today after buying some supplies for a client; telling my hubby I had a present for him. Needless to say he was a bit disappointed when I pulled out a pack of ear candles. I am partial to a joke or two. Ears are amazing gifts, the two ears together create the shape of the heart. Many have said as a sign we are one together and that we should listen twice as much as we speak. Lovely thoughts to consciously put into practise. If you have studied pressure points at all you will also notice the sacred fractals of the body- the ear, foot and the hand all are mini maps of the body. Each organ and part of the body can be accessed if the practitioner knows how. Such incredible sacred geometry. It is absolutely fascinating stuff. I might touch on this in another blog post soon.
My family and I have tried ear candling before in Asian countries that we have visited. Yet I haven’t ever tried it as a diy at home. My dear mum was with us on one trip and poor thing suffers hearing loss, it did indeed seem to help her even hear a little better I recall her saying; which is amazing. These days the candles are readily available and easy to buy in chemists and some health or alternative stores.
The ones I found are natural beeswax and cotton; they have a small cardboard guard. If yours doesn’t come with a guard I would suggest making one using a paper plate or a round of cardboard. It does help catch some fly away ash. Never walk away while you are burning a candle for the person being treated. Sit and help them keep their head straight and pay attention as the flame burns closer to the guard.
Here is my conclusion….it is relatively easy to do at home as long as you are careful with the flame. Rooky error for me I set hubby up on the lounge room floor forgetting just how big the flame is! You will see we moved to the bathroom for my extraction. Allow 8 mins for each ear approximately. Many recommend a face massage to assist in relaxation and loosen the sinus. Have a glass of water ready to put the flame out; or if you are in the bathroom just run it under the tap.
It is said as with most natural therapies that many ancient cultures used this method. On researching there is also (as with most natural therapies) plenty of chat to discourage one from trying it. Just remember that the mighty dollar is still manipulating thought and often natural things are not advised because a “shiny and expensive alternative” is being suggested by the same one speaking against the natural therapy. I little bit like “don’t eat fruit but here’s some lovely sugar, cane syrup and canola oil in your “health food” bar with some delicious synthetic apple flavouring- with no added sugar because we listed it as other secret ingredients” approach by food manufacturers- if I can just draw the analogy. I would much prefer this technique to ramming a plastic Q tip down my ear. Natural over marketing any day feels right for me.
Candling in ancient societies was also considered a spiritual practise used for physiological cleansing in many cultures that includes the mayan, aztec and American Indian cultures. It was also used in Egypt, Tibet, China and Ancient Greece. This makes complete utter sense to me as these cultures were well aware that the body is in fact the temple and that the ears are gates or windows. In ancient Hebrew culture the priest had to be anointed on the right earlobe, the right thumb and the right big toe. This gets super interesting when you realise why right brain thinking links to the spiritual and creative parts of the mind and then fractals of that in each part of the body chosen.
Some said benefits to ear candling include:
- relieving sinus pressure and pain
- extracts ears wax from the canal
- improves hearing
- assists lymphatic circulation
- purifies the mind
- relieves ear-aches
- sharpens the senses
- fortifies the central nervous system
- opens the spiritual centres and cleanses the auric bodies
- relieves vertigo
- opens and aligns the chakras
There are many other “said” benefits I have just listed a few to get your research going on this should it interest you. Some say it even helps unlock buried emotions- even for that I am such a fan! I personally felt clear headed, could hear better and could physically feel a pressure release in my sinuses after tonight’s treatment. A small drop of olive oil is also wonderful for the ear canal to keep things moving along in there. Should you ever suffer from an earache a little garlic in the oil works a treat as a natural antibiotic
Please don’t be tempted to do this alone though, it is imperative you have a responsible adult assist you in the process. If you would like to try this in the eKa CIRCLE treatment room please book a session and send me a message so that I can prepare the candles.
All the better to hear you with my dear.
love & light
