Hey eKa CIRCLE
Just following through with the aloe vera shampoo recipe as promised. I used it last night and it is beyond my expectations. I just know you will love this one!
Your hair is your glory and some natural pampering is long overdue! What better than a combination of natural oils, healing aloe vera and antibacterial and antimicrobial essential oils. This base for this shampoo uses castile soap which is a natural soap that originated in Spain made using 100 percent vegetable oils. Castile soap is a reasonable price if you buy it in bulk. It can be used for so many things in the home- from dishwashing liquid, washing plant sprays, laundry liquid, toilet cleaner to makeup remover; definitely something I will follow through and experiment with. This non toxic, biodegradable soap is completely free of animal fats and synthetic ingredients that go into other commercial soaps. Mother earth and our precious waterways will thank you also for making this swap.
Adding antibacterial and antimicrobial essential oils will help with any skin irritations, fungal or bacterial. Rosemary is a beautiful addition to any hair product as it contains ursolic acid which increases scalp circulation. That means more oxygen and nutrients will be sent to the hair follicles which will stimulate hair growth and shine.
This shampoo is safe to use on children, pets and anyone that suffers allergies. You can tweak the recipe to use whatever essential oil you prefer although adding one anti bacterial oil is highly recommended to assist in extending the fresh aloes shelf life. As with all natural products without preservatives added, this product will not last as long as a store bought product so plan to make smaller quantities at a time or swap or share with your community.
Expect this shampoo to lather somewhat but not to the extent of other commercial shampoos as there are no harmful sulphates added. The natural oils in this recipe and the aloe will coat your hair with nourishment as opposed to stripping your hair like sodium lauryl sulphate does.
Aloe Vera Shampoo
1 large or 2 medium aloe vera leaves
1 cup castile soap
2 Tbs almond oil
20 drops rosemary essential oil
20 drops lavender essential oil
Cut the aloe vera leaves open and scrape the gel into a blender. Add the castile soap, almond oil and essential oils. Blend until smooth and foamy. Pour the mixture into a squeeze bottle using a funnel. Refrigerate to enhance the shelf life. Wash your hair using 1-2 tbs of the shampoo, leave on for a minute or two and rinse hair. No need to condition using this product.
Please share this recipe with your friends and family as we can all be the change.
love & light
