Afternoon eKa CIRCLE
It’s been lovely to have dedicated time to consciously experiment and build content for eKa during these holidays. This afternoon I noticed I had run out of my turmeric toothpaste that I blogged about a while ago, so I decided to make a different type today using charcoal. Its very easy to make and sure it does take a while to get used to going “all natural” I wont lie! It doesn’t have the sweet fake minty flush that our regular supermarket brands have. Yet each time I brush I think of the ocean rejuvenating; I think of my pineal gland seeing dreams and visions that fluoride will not allow me should I continue in the “old ways” and I flash my pearly whites in a big grin.
Bicarb soda is a natural exfoliant that helps to whiten teeth, as does charcoal. The clove oil helps to encourage gum health as it is an antibacterial; it has a slightly anaesthetic effect for any existing sensitivity you may have, and has a very pleasant taste. You can use peppermint essential oil if you prefer that to the taste of clove. Coconut oil has been used for centuries by the Indians for mouth hygiene- read up on oil pulling if you are interested? It helps to reduce plaque and together with the bicarbonate of soda leaves a fresh alkaline environment in your mouth that will help to combat bad breath.
Making this toothpaste takes only a few simple ingredients and only takes a few seconds to mix together. Make some for your friends while you are at it. I recycled my eKa pot from my last toothpaste batch and placed the remainder in a clip-lock jar.

M+E
clove flavoured charcoal toothpaste
1/8 cup organic coconut oil
1/3 cup aluminium free bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp charcoal powder
few drops cloves essential oil
Melt the coconut oil gently over warm water if you need to. It is very hot here today so I didn’t need to do this today. Stir in the bicarbonate of soda and charcoal powder. Flavour to taste with the clove essential oil. Store in plastic free airtight containers in a cool place.
