Mindfulness is a buzz word lately. Here are some practical tips to start practising it and you will soon see results.
- Focus only on the present activity for example if you are brushing your teeth, feel the brush, listen to the water, think about the direction of the bristles hitting the teeth. Avoid the temptation to let your mind wander.Β
- Drop all judgement. We at eKa CIRCLE love this one, it is the core of our ethos. We humbly believe that together we have the answers.
- Try mindful meditation and mindful breathing. There are many great apps for this today. A word or a breathing technique will help you re-focus again when your mind starts wandering. *see “How to breathe your stress away” blog eKa CIRCLE for some tips and an example of a breathing video that can really help.
- Practice! Every persons mind wanders. We are so accustomed to multitasking that it is very instinctive to run in brain overload mode. How many of you miss the pleasure of the sexual encounter due to thinking about menial chores, stresses or deadlines??? Yep…. I rest my case.Β
I have just read the most incredible example of combining old ways with new ways (see article link below) which sums up the essence of eKa. It is an example of Aboriginal women “ngangkari- traditional healers” creating a mindfulness app in their language together with interpreters and western mental health professionals.Β We do have solutions when we work together for the better good.Β
Be blessed
